Rogers-based Activeion, which sells cleaning sprays that ionize water, named retail executive John C. Walden as its new CEO.

Walden was executive vice president and chief customer officer at Sears Holdings Corp. Before Sears, Walden worked in senior executive roles at Best Buy Co. Inc.

"John Walden's diverse background in technology and consumer focused companies seems perfect for this task," said Thomas Denison, Activeion's co-founder and non-executive chairman. "His successful track record of innovation, growth and managing complex businesses, and his deep experience with multiple distribution channels will be put to good use at Activeion."

Jim Wiese, the company's past CEO, is now vice president of manufacturing, Activeion said.

Activeion sells cleaning sprays that send an electric charge to water. The company says using its spray can kill germs and even the H1N1 virus. But the notion of using just water as a cleanser has been met with skepticism from consumers and scientists who question whether the product cleans as well as using conventional soap or other chemicals.
