Above is a rendering from Houwman Architects of Elk Run's first 50,400 square foot building in its biobusiness park. The building will be split into 3,600 square-foot "bays" or sections, that will allow tenants flexibility on how much space they want to rent out, said architect Brian Houwman.

"You certainly want in a project like this to be able to represent the future," Houwman said.

Elk Run is a 2,325-acre project in Pine Island that is being developed by Tower Investments. The project is expected to eventually include a biobusiness park, housing, a wellness community and other commercial space.

Tower said on Wednesday groundbreaking on Elk Run's first building will take place at the earliest in October. Tower said it has lined up two biotech diagnostic businesses, but declined to name them. One of the tenants will hire 15 to 20 people, a Tower official said on Wednesday.

According to the architect's plans, total parking provided is expected to be 135 stalls for the first building.
