Brandon Bostian, the Amtrak engineer who was at the controls of the train that derailed in Philadelphia in a wreck that killed eight people.

LIVES IN: Forest Hills section of Queens, in New York City

EDUCATION: Graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor's in business administration and management in 2006, according to the university. Belonged to the Acacia fraternity.

CAREER: Became an Amtrak engineer in December 2010 after four years as a train conductor, according to his LinkedIn profile. In 2010-11, worked in California for Amtrak on Caltrain's passenger train system, which runs from San Francisco to San Jose. His Linkedin profile also says he was a cashier at Target in Columbia, Missouri, in 2005-06.
