A look at potential NBA playoff pairings

Wednesday is the last day of the NBA regular season. The playoffs begin Saturday with the best-of-seven conference quarterfinals. The division winners in each conference and one other team make up the top four seeds (in order of record), while the remaining four teams are seeded 5-8. Teams are not reseeded after each round. Here were the first-round matchups after Saturday's games (teams in bold are locked into seeds):

WESTERN CONFERENCE

(1) San Antonio vs. (8) Memphis

(2) L.A. Lakers vs. (7) New Orleans

(3) Dallas vs. (6) Portland

(4) Oklahoma City vs. (5) Denver

EASTERN CONFERENCE

(1) Chicago vs. (8) Indiana

(3) Miami vs. (6) New York
