A cold ride on the Northstar

Commuters who rode the second inbound Northstar train had a dark and cold ride. At some point the train lost power and had to run on battery backup, a Metro Transit spokesman said.

Commuters who rode the second inbound Northstar train had a dark and cold ride. At some point the train lost power and had to run on battery backup, a Metro Transit spokesman said.

That left riders with no heat and the only lighting was the emergency lights in each car. The train did make it to Target Field without any other incident.

A mechanic was dispatched to look into the problem, said Howie Padilla, an agency spokesman.
