Washington Post reporter Christopher Ingraham, he who tested the niceness of many a Minnesotan last month, has some new thoughts after a visit here last week: It’s a place of rugged beauty and some fairly forgiving people.
Ingraham wrote about his change of heart in his blog (tinyurl.com/qjmsh8p) a few days after a trip to Red Lake County, ranked worst for livability in some 15-year-old federal data. His first blog post was met with a storm of gentle Minnesota protest.
His follow-up blog is worth a look, especially for the photo of a teen who presented him with a cake of Red Lake County. As for the “ugly” label, it might stick. Proud locals think it’s funny and are talking about hosting a tongue-in-cheek “Uglyfest.”
