About the worst thing that happened was that an object of some type was thrown or fell from the Dowling Avenue overpass at I-94 and struck a Metro Transit bus.

Friday morning commuters saw wide open spaces on metro area highways and freeways. The combination of it being Good Friday and spring break likely contributed to the much lighter traffic levels.

That kept traffic moving along Hwy. 100 through the construction zone, I-394 to Excelsior Blvd. That area has not been horrible this week, but the true test might come next week when everybody is back to school and work.

There were not many calls for stalls or crashes Friday morning. About the worst thing that happened was that an object of some type was thrown or fell from the Dowling Avenue overpass at I-94 just before 7 a.m. The object, believed to be a brick, hit a Metro Transit bus and damaged the windshield. No one on the bus was injured, Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla said.
