The interchange of Crosstown and Cedar Avenue was scene of two crashes during Thursday's morning rush, one that saw a handful of crashes elsewhere but no major delays on the system.

Just before 8 a.m., three vehicles collided on northbound Cedar Avenue at the Crosstown, with one car landing in the center median and two others on the right shoulder. About 8:40 a.m., four drivers were involved in a crash on the westbound Crosstown on the bridge over Cedar Avenue. The backup also produced a secondary wreck at 28th Avenue. Both of those crashes have been moved to the right shoulder.

Another tough spot was on westbound I-494. From 7 to 7:15 a.m., two crashes in the stretch between 24th Avenue and Portland Avenue brought traffic to its knees. Fortunately both were cleared fairly fast and the log jam was short lived.

A semi rear-ended a car on northbound 35W in Minneapolis about 6:20 a.m. That led to a brief am that had traffic bogging down from the Crosstown to the crash scene at 50th Street.

The rest of the system flowed fast and free, especially in the east metro where no incidents of significance were reported.
