Every week we compile the best comments left on startribune.com blogs and stories. Here are this week's effort. WRONG ABOUT THE TWINS
2day's 2 cents: Impresses? Unimpressed?
depres: I thought Twins would get swept by Sox, and I took a lot of abuse for it. But I really thought there was that risk -- how wrong I was. VERY IMPRESSIVE wins. The Twins are amazing!
shira123: After ripping Ron Gardenhire for most of the first half of the year, I am beginning to think I was wrong on all counts. He is obviously doing a terrific job. Thus far, I would have to vote Jesse Crain as MVP. His two whiffs of the sluggers in Game 1 cements his value to the club. Crain has been as reliable a Twins reliever in clutch situations as I can recall in recent memory. Kudos to the entire team.
EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES ...
bigbrad123: Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Greg Camarillo the ONLY new person in the offense? What changed? Didn't Brett Favre throw to Percy Harvin, Greg Lewis and Bernard Berrian in practice all last year? Seems like a lot of excuses to me. One guy (Sidney Rice) should not change the entire scheme of your offense, and if he does, then obviously there are some coaching issues with talented guys on the team like Adrian Peterson, Favre, Harvin, Visanthe Shiancoe, etc.
GunslingerCA: Which is it, people? I've heard Favre can't move or run because his ankle is still hurting. Then I read that Favre should have been in training camp the whole time. So, if he is still injured, how would he have been able to play at training camp? Do not discount the fact that the Vikings played one of the best football teams. I mean, the Saints are the defending Super Bowl champs. ... I say wait until the bye week and see where the Vikings are at before we panic. The Vikings should be 2-1 and still in good shape.
NOT HAPPY WITH BREWSTER
plannerman: Tim Brewster needs to pull a Reggie Bush ala the Heisman Trophy, and return his head coaching title to the U of M. Unfortunately, like the last vacancy, Joel Maturi wouldn't know what to do with it either.
tmac0812: I've been a Gophers fan since my teenage years in the 1960s. The defeat against South Dakota was the most embarrassing that I can recall. Brewster was brought here as a top-flight recruiter. Either he stinks at that, or he is unable to coach and motivate his players. The only time I want to hear him speak again is for his resignation speech.
holstj: Time to start selling beer at TCF Stadium if you actually expect people to watch this stuff.
