A pedestrian was killed in a crash at a busy Coon Rapids intersection, one of three deadly highway incidents across the state Friday and Saturday morning, the State Patrol said.

According to the patrol, a 22-year-old Blaine man died in the Coon Rapids crash, which happened in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 610 at East River Road about 12:20 a.m. Authorities expected to release his name Monday.

The man was walking in the middle right lane of Hwy. 610 on the wet roadway, the patrol said. Few other details about the crash were available Saturday.

The car involved in the crash was driven by Megan E. Cunningham, 35, of Plymouth, the patrol said. She was not hurt.

Along with the State Patrol, the Coon Rapids police and Anoka County Sheriff’s Office were investigating.

Elsewhere Saturday, an 81-year-old driver attempting to pull out of a driveway onto Hwy. 210 in Otter Tail County was killed when an approaching pickup was unable to stop and broadsided the sedan.

The sedan driver’s identity was expected to be released Sunday. She is from Fergus Falls.

The State Patrol said the driver of the pickup, Nelson E. Douglas, 71, of Granada Hills, Calif., sustained noncritical injuries while his passenger, Judy K. Paulson, 69, of Wayzata, was apparently not hurt.

The crash happened about 10:45 a.m. Roads were dry at the time, the patrol said.

And in Isanti County on Friday, a driver was killed when the car he was driving crossed the centerline on Hwy. 95 and collided with a semitrailer truck. The patrol said the car’s driver, James S. Waldock, 55, of Osceola, Minn., died at the scene.

The crash occurred on dry roads at Hwy. 95 and Vickers Street NE., just east of Cambridge, around 5 p.m., a patrol release said.

The driver of the semi was identified as Dale D. Bardwell, 58, of Dalbo, Minn. He was taken to Cambridge Medical Center with noncritical injuries, according to the patrol.

The Isanti County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
