This is a very weak arguement. Would you really follow the law if it ran counter to your "belief systems?" For example, if you were living in 1940 Nazi Germany would you follow all those laws, "even those laws that (ran) counter to (your) individual belief systems"? There were many laws which ran counter to the dignity of humans, but should not have been followed. Now I grant you that this is an extreme example, but I could cite others that also prove my point. My point is that if a law runs counter to your conscience (I'm not sure why you used belief system), then you should not follow it. You are also implying that each individual determines his/her own individual "belief systems" with one not necessarily being right/better than the others. Why conform to laws than run counter to what you believe in? This runs counter to all the authorship on the role of law in society.
