Some feel-good news early in Day 2 of the NHL entry draft when the hometown Wild trades its third- and fourth-round pick to the Vancouver Canucks for the second-to-last pick of the second round (No. 60).

With the selection, the Wild drafted Wayzata High School's Mario Lucia, the son of the U's Don Lucia.

"I was relieved and happy," said Mario Lucia. "You could not have written a better story."
Right before the trade, Wild owner Craig Leipold was trying to run back to team's draft table before he got stopped by your truly. He missed the pick but got back in time to shake Lucia's hand. "I knew he was high on our list. That's why I was coming down," a delighted Leipold said. "I knew these guys were itching to get a hold of Mario, and it happened. It's good stuff."
