Rich is an avid outdoorsman who has been a weather observer since he was in grade school. He has had a lifelong interest in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and is an avid small boat and offshore sailor. He holds a 100-ton US Coast Guard license. He is a retired Orthopaedic Surgeon and has lived in La Crosse, Wis., for 35 years. He operates Weather Underground station KWILACRO3.
