Snow of legend

A couple of inches of snow fell in Sebeka this morning, about 200 miles northwest of the Cities. Nothing across the southern half so far. The prediction for the metro area might be only less than half an inch. But that can mess up traffic, …

California Cold Front Will Have Little Impact

Last update: November 8, 2009 - 2:25 PM

A cold front spreading rain over the Pacific Northwest early in the week will have much less effect upon weather farther south. Indeed, most of California will see no more than an increase in cloudiness to mark the approach and passing of this weather system.

Widespread dry air that has held rainfall to a minimum lately will hold strongly in the face of the oncoming weather system the outcome will be that only spotty, minor rain will reach northernmost California on Monday night and Tuesday. For San Francisco and Sacramento and all areas to the south, this will be a dry weather system having little bearing upon the weather.

So if meaningful rain is going to reach California anytime soon, it will have to accompany another weather system. At least for the northern half of the state, there is some chance for light to moderate rainfall along with a stronger midweek cold front.
