Fairly Warm for the East Coast into the Midwest

Last update: November 8, 2009 - 2:25 PM

Warming that built eastward over the midsection beginning at midweek has reached, as of Sunday, its ultimate destination: the East Coast. Early afternoon temperatures lofted well into the 60s from New York City all the way into Maine with 70 degrees or better from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., and points farther south.

Credit high pressure now building out to sea for the eastward warming.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the high will be well positioned to serve up another helping of widespread 60s to lower 70s for the mid-Atlantic and New England west to the Ohio Valley and southern Great Lakes.

What this means is a relatively warm start to the week for the likes of Cleveland, Indianapolis and Cincinnati as well as Boston, Philadelphia and New York City. Look for sunny intervals, maybe even a full day of November sunshine.
