Still Mild in the Midsection

Last update: November 8, 2009 - 7:25 AM

After a day of record or near-record warmth on the Plains, the core of unusually warm air shifted into the heart of the Midwest on Saturday. Chicago, for example, had 70 degrees for the first time in over two weeks. In the wake of the springlike warmth, the northern half of the Plains cooled noticeably behind a cold front.

Looking forward, the Great Plains cold front will have a somewhat limited impact upon Midwest temperatures on Sunday. Chicago will not reach 70 degrees, but it will be within a corridor of mild 60s stretching from Ohio and lower Michigan west to Nebraska. And across the immediate Ohio Valley to Missouri and Kansas, warm 70s will be reached.
