Northeast to Warm

Last update: November 6, 2009 - 2:25 PM

Heavier jackets, hats and gloves have been the outdoor apparel of choice for residents and visitors across the Northeast the past couple of days. You will be able to put those items away this weekend when noticeably milder air arrives.

The milder air will first reach the eastern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley on Saturday, sending high temperatures into the 60s. The rest of the Northeast will have to wait until Sunday for the arrival of the milder air. That 60-degree warmth will reach Boston, New York City and Philadelphia this day.

It should be noted that the leading edge of the milder air will be accompanied by spottier showers, but mainly near the Canadian border.

Persistent high pressure over the intermountain region has blocked Pacific storms from coming into California with the main storm track directed at the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. That section of western North America has been subjected to a bunch of storms in recent weeks. More
