The extended dry spell through the South Central states has been well received in light of all the flooding that has taken place. Still it will take days for waters to recede completely.
Well before things return to status quo, another rainstorm may hit the lower Mississippi Valley.
On the latest satellite picture, notice the large area of cloudiness emanating from the Bay of Campeche. There is quite a bit of stored tropical moisture in this air, and it all seems to be headed for the western Gulf State region.
On its present course, rain will spread into southeastern Texas, Louisiana and southern Mississippi on Sunday. The rain will continue northward into Arkansas, western Tennessee, western Kentucky and southeastern Missouri Sunday night and Monday.
Much of this area had excessive rainfall during the month of October and was stricken by serious floods. More heavy rain so soon could only renew the problems.
