Gophers update: The Gophers (29-4-1) rested last weekend after earning the league’s regular-season title and a first-round tournament bye. The regular-season championship was their first since 2015 and moved them back atop the national rankings. They are defending Final Faceoff champions and are 3-1-1 against UMD this season.

UMD update: The Bulldogs (15-15-4) swept Bemidji State 3-2 and 4-3 last weekend in the best-of-three first round to advance to the Final Faceoff. Goaltender Maddie Rooney, a 2018 Olympic gold medalist, is 12-14-4 with a 2.80 goals-against average.

Wisconsin update: After ending the regular season with a pair of ties at Ohio State, the Badgers (30-4-2) fell to No. 2 in the national rankings and were edged out by the Gophers for the league’s regular-season championship.

Ohio State update: Currently ranked No. 9 nationally, Ohio State (20-12-2) finished third in the regular-season standings).

Up next: The tournament champion earns an automatic berth in the eight-team women’s NCAA tournament, which begins next weekend at campus sites. The selection show will be livestreamed on ncaa.com at 8 p.m. Sunday.
