The quote: On why he chose to be one of a record 102 underclassmen to declare for the draft: “I love my family. I’ve taken this responsibility to take care of them. My mom works two jobs, and my dad is disabled and still works a job, too. They are getting old and I want them to retire.”

The skinny: The Vikings want him to play running back. In 47 college games, McKinnon played quarterback in a triple-option attack, running back, fullback and even cornerback for two games his sophomore year. He also was worked out as a kick returner at his pro day.
