Rashod Hill has played 147 snaps for the Vikings. More than a handful of his plays have inspired confidence that they might have found a steady prospect at backup tackle.

But none of those snaps has been in an actual NFL start, until Sunday. In Washington, Hill will get his first start at right tackle when he replaces injured Mike Remmers, who has been ruled out because of a concussion suffered two weeks ago against the Browns.

What does getting the start do for Hill? It gets him a full week of practice at the spot he'll actually play.

"Oh yeah, it helps me a lot, man," Hill said of practicing at right tackle all week. "Because unfortunately, when we were in London and Mike went down, I had been playing left [tackle] all week. So getting a full week down means getting a better feel for the plays."

Hill is the type of guy you see — 6 feet 6 with long arms at 313 pounds — and think, yeah, he should be playing in the NFL. That's what got him in the door as an undrafted prospect from Southern Mississippi. The Vikings, in a massive pinch last year at the position, plucked him from the Jaguars practice squad. He has since taken advantage of his limited reps.

The Vikings and Hill are still working to refine his footwork, especially as a run blocker, where coaches would like to see him be more physical.

"I thought he did better with the running game this week, putting his body on people," coach Mike Zimmer said. "Hopefully, it carries over to the game."

Griffen in, Easton back

Defensive star Everson Griffen returned to practice Friday for the Vikings and is expected to play Sunday in Washington, according to Zimmer. Griffen, who declined interview requests all week, is listed as questionable because of a foot injury suffered against the Browns.

With 10 sacks in eight games, Griffen will pursue his ninth straight game with a sack, which would give him the stand-alone Vikings franchise record.

He's two shy of the NFL's all-time record of 10 consecutive games with a sack.

The Vikings will get left guard Nick Easton back in the lineup. Easton had missed the past three games because of a strained calf muscle. It's good timing for Easton's return; the Vikings on Sunday will be without his backup, Jeremiah Sirles, who has a sprained knee.

Diggs' 'sweet tooth'

Receiver Stefon Diggs said he was warned. The Vikings' vertical threat had been told about lingering cavities but said he declined to address them. So when he finally couldn't sleep for the third night in a row this week, Diggs said he went into the dentist to get the work done. He summarized the "injury" as his "sweet tooth."

"Three root canals and a filling," Diggs said, describing the work he had done within a two-day span this week.

Diggs will play Sunday, after popping up on the injury report Thursday as limited because of the dental work.

Forbath going back to D.C. with no regrets

Kai Forbath doesn't hold a grudge, at least not anymore. The Vikings kicker returns Sunday to Washington, where he converted 87 percent of his field-goal kicks between 2012 and 2015 and found out he was fired by the Redskins on … Twitter.

Outside of a missed extra point here or there, Forbath has now established himself with the Vikings.

"It'll be fun going back, but it's been a while now so it's not like I have strong feelings," Forbath said. "It was a weird situation, but I've definitely moved on since then."

Who's playing for Washington?

Washington lists 12 players, or a quarter of its roster, as questionablefor Sunday's game. That includes six offensive linemen, most notably left tackle Trent Williams (knee), right tackle Morgan Moses (ankle) and guard Brandon Scherff (knee).

"We're anticipating most of them playing," Zimmer said.
