“Avengers assemble” takes on a whole new meaning as storied superheroes such as Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Black Widow make their brick-built game debuts in “Lego Marvel’s Avengers” ($30-$60 for just about every system; rated E10+). Of course, take too many enemy hits, and your chosen Avenger will quickly disassemble.
Fans of the popular Lego titles will find themselves in familiar territory when it comes to character control and the tag-team-style game play. The usual humor abounds, too, especially in an opening sequence that cheekily mimics the intro of the cinematic blockbuster “Age of Ultron.”
But with playable scenes from half a dozen Avengers-connected films, more than 200 characters to unlock and eight open-world environments to explore, the game’s replay value rockets off the charts.
