Could you be the next HGTV or DIY Network star?

Could you and a sibling be the next "Property Brothers"? Do you wish you had your own show like "Rehab Addict" Nicole Curtis?

Minneapolis-based Magnetic Productions is seeking new talent for a new HGTV or DIY Network home-improvement series.

"We're looking for best friends, siblings, couples or family members who restore and renovate houses together," said Emily Eldridge, supervising producer of casting and development.

Magnetic is casting a nationwide net for handy, telegenic folks, including licensed contractors, builders, carpenters, restorers, home flippers and DIY experts. However, the camera-shy need not apply. Only people with "big personalities" who are outgoing and can clearly share their expertise and views will be considered, said Eldridge. "We find the personalities, and from there find a unique twist to build a show around," she said.

Solo applicants are welcome, but husband-wife teams, brothers and sisters or best friends seem to resonate with viewers, said Eldridge. Magnetic Productions was launched in 2009 and has produced more than 35 shows for HGTV and DIY.

Does Eldridge have any tips for getting plucked out of obscurity to become the next HGTV star?

"Always include a video that enhances or highlights your personality — in the first 30 seconds," she said.
