Each summer the St. Paul performing-arts school Circus Juventas puts on a show of acrobatic feats wrapped in a mythical story, and this year's tale nods to the mythic past of many Minnesotans. Leif, a mortal, stumbles onto a mystic library and is transported to the world of the gods, where he is instructed to retrieve Thor's lost hammer and save the universe. Leif travels through the nine realms of Norse/Viking mythology in a story written by Brave New Workshop co-artistic director Katy McEwen. The setting gives the creative team license for encounters with creatures such as dwarves, elves, giants and trolls. The performers also get to show off their skills with a 15-foot swinging Viking ship from which they fly. (7 p.m. Fri., 1 & 7 p.m. Sat., 1 p.m. Sun., 7 p.m. Wed.-Thu., ends Aug. 13. Circus Juventas, 1270 Montreal Av., St. Paul. $18.50-$45. 651-699-8229 or ticketworks.com.)
