Northern Spark

Next weekend: Northern Spark takes over Minneapolis the night of June 13-14 with more than 400 artists' projects at 86 venues and a promise of great food at dawn. The bike-friendly all-nighter offers the usual mix of mischief, poetry and just plain fun. Veteran Sparkers Ali Momeni and Jenny Schmid will stage their "Gutless Warrior" performance involving live animation, drawing, masks and hecklers at Walker Art Center. For poetic visuals, check out Tony Biele's interactive "origami fish tank" sculpture and light show at the U's Northrup auditorium. Seven audio artists will mix found sound with synthesizers, audio feedback, cello, violin and guitar at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Drop in next door at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts for artist Alyssa Baguss' interactive birthday-themed installation with party hats, confetti, balloons and, of course, cake. In a truly inspired mash-up, revelers can top off the night at Aria with a morning nosh served up by Bachelor Farmer and Al's Breakfast. Most events are free, but the Aria shindig costs $25 in advance, $30 at the door. (9 p.m. June 13-5:26 a.m. June 14. 2015.northernspark.org.)
