(Spoiler alert: Please do not keep reading if you haven't seen the Season 6 premiere of "Game of Thrones")

"Game of Thrones" roared back onto the small screen and sorry fans, but it looks like Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) really is dead.

The episode opened right where Season 5 left off, with Snow's bloody body lying in the snow at Castle Black. The wails of his direwolf, Ghost, attracts the attention of Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) who, with a few loyal Night's Watch brothers, takes Snow's body and stashes it in a nearby room, locking the door behind them.

Near Winterfell, Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Theon (Alfie Allen) are on the run. The Boltons have sent men and dogs to recapture them, forcing the pair to wade through a freezing river to try and escape.

Eventually, though, the hounds outrun them and they are cornered. Suddenly, Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) and Podrick (Daniel Portman) arrive and kill the Bolton soldiers. Brienne swears her loyalty to Sansa, just as she did for her mother back in Season 2. This time, Sansa accepts her offer of protection.

Back in Essos, Daario (Michiel Huisman) and Jorah (Iain Glen) continue their search for Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), who was carried off by her dragon Drogon at the end of Season 5. They come across her ring in a field that is covered in horse tracks, which Jorah recognizes as those made by a Dothraki khalasar.

Daenerys is being held prisoner by the Dothraki, who take her to Khal Moro (Joe Naufahu). Moro initially intends to sleep with her, but when she says she is the widow of Khal Drogo, Moro backs away immediately, as it is against Dothraki custom to lay with the widow of another Khal.

Daenerys says that if Moro and his khalasar return her to Meereen, she will gift him with 1,000 horses. But he says he can do no such thing, as Dothraki custom also dictates that a Khal's widow must live the rest of her life in mourning at the city of Vaes Dothrak.

In King's Landing, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) returns from Dorne with the body of his and Cersei's daughter, Myrcella. Cersei (Lena Headey) is beside herself with grief, but Jaime promises to crush all of their enemies as revenge.

Those enemies include Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma), who blames the Lannisters for the death of her lover, Oberyn, in Season 4. With the help of the Sand Snakes, she kills Prince Doran (Alexander Siddig) and his son, effectively seizing control of Dorne.

Arya (Maisie Williams) is still blind after using a face from the Hall of Faces without permission. She is reduced to begging on the streets of Braavos. But The Waif (Faye Marsay) approaches her and tosses her a stick, telling her to fight back. The Waif proceeds to beat Arya senseless and leaves her lying in the street.

Back at The Wall, Davos brings Melisandre (Carice Van Houten) in to see Jon Snow's body, but she is still shaken after failing to foresee Stannis' downfall and quickly leaves. Davos then sends Edd (Ben Crompton) to convince the wildlings to join them, as Thorne (Owen Teale) plans to take Snow's body and most likely kill all who are still loyal to him.

Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Varys (Conleth Hill) wander the streets of Meereen dressed as merchants, discussing how exactly they will bring peace to a city on the brink of a civil war. While they are able to make a few inroads with the locals, the problems of the city are laid bare when someone sets fire to every ship in the harbor.

The episode ends with Melisandre alone in her chambers. She silently stands in front of a mirror and strips off all of her clothing. She then removes a jeweled choker from around her neck, and suddenly she is transformed into a grizzled, wrinkled old woman.
