Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas,” which consists of a whopping 21 original movies, continues with “Christmas Festival of Ice,” in which an ice-sculpting contest serves as a backdrop for holiday romance. Anyone who has braved the chills of St. Paul’s Winter Carnival can relate.

Larry David gets a chance to revive his Bernie Sanders impression when he hosts “Saturday Night Live,” providing the perfect excuse to invite Melissa McCarthy back as Sean Spicer. And, hey, while we’re on a nostalgia kick, I wonder if Chevy Chase can still call up the ghost of Gerald Ford? Miley Cyrus, who has seemingly been around since the Ford administration, is the musical guest.

“Shameless” kicks off its eighth season with Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) trying to kick a few of his bad habits. Don’t buy it? Well, consider the fact that the derelict father actually shaves — which has got to be buried somewhere in AA’s 12-step program.
