Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid may have disappeared in a barrage of gunfire, but the buddy system is alive and well in the world of crimes and misdemeanors. One of the most enjoyable examples is “Hap and Leonard: Mucho Mojo,” which marks the return of James Purefoy and Michael Kenneth Williams, still trying to scrape their way up from the bottom of the economic ladder.

Former University of Minnesota student Ron Perlman continues his major in intimidating characters during a second season of “Hand to God,” the series in which a judge fights for his sanity and innocence. Brian Baumgartner, who spent his formative years on various Minnesota stages before landing the role of Kevin on “The Office,” joins the cast.

Ava DuVernay is having a moment — and she’s taking full advantage of it. The director of “Selma” and the Oscar-nominated documentary “13th” is one of the producers for “Namour,” a film about an Egyptian immigrant’s despair upon realizing that he may not have a legitimate shot at the American dream. Heidi Saman, an associate producer for NPR’s “Fresh Air,” directs.
