TCM’s monthlong tribute to Steve McQueen hits its sweet spot with a trifecta that offers something for everyone. The lineup kicks off with “Bullitt,” featuring one of cinema’s grittiest car chases, followed by the war flick “The Sand Pebbles” and “The Cincinnati Kid.”

Celebrate this weekend’s opening of “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” by watching 2008’s original “Mamma Mia,” the grandmommy of jukebox musicals. If you don’t adjust for inflation, it’s Meryl Streep’s most successful movie. If you do make the adjustment, her biggest success story is “Kramer Vs. Kramer.” Who knew?

“Trial and Error: Lady Killer” convenes its second season without ultimate ham John Lithgow on the stand. He is greatly missed. Kristin Chenoweth is adequate as the new suspect, especially when she breaks into song, but over-the-top comedy really isn’t in her range.
