The Gophers hockey program officially welcomed transfer Nick Seeler to the group coach Don Lucia announced on Wednesday morning.

Seeler, an Eden Prairie product, left behind Nebraska Omaha after two seasons with the Mavericks. NCAA transfer rules require that Seeler sit out the 2014-2015 season, but he will have two seasons of eligibility remaining upon his return.

The defenseman collected 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in 70 games with the Mavericks and was a 2011 fifth-round draft pick of the Wild.

Seeler was selected to the USHL All-Rookie Team in 2012 and was an All-State and All-Metro selection at Eden Prairie. He won two state championships (2009 and 2011) with the Eagles and current Gophers teammates Kyle Rau and Mitch Rogge.

Sisters Ashley (soccer) and Kelly (hockey) also played for the Gophers.

Condon signs with Colorado Avalanche affiliate

Former Gophers co-captain Nate Condon signed a one-year deal with the Lake Erie Monsters. The American Hockey League member is an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.

Condon, a native of Wausau, Wis., will participate in the Avalanche’s upcoming training camp. He was originally selected by Colorado in the seventh round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The forward finished his Gophers career with 103 points (40 goals, 63 assists). He was the 81st skater in program history to reach the 100-point milestone. Condon only missed one game in his four-year career and played in 158 consecutive games.

Parenteau picked up by Toronto Maple Leafs affiliate

Gophers alum Jake Parenteau will join the Orlando Solar Bears in the East Coast Hockey League. The Bears are an affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The defenseman totaled 22 points (four goals, 18 assists) in 113 career games for the Gophers and was part of a senior class that led to the Gophers to two Frozen Four appearances.

Parenteau is one of three former Gophers on the Bears’ roster entering the 2014-2015 season, joining forward Jacob Cepis and goaltender Kent Patterson.
