Barb Davis White

Barb Davis White, a gregarious mortician turned minister, is challenging Rep. Keith Ellison at a time when an incumbent is typically the most vulnerable – the first reelection campaign. But working against her chances is that she's a Republican running in one of the state's biggest DFL strongholds. She has attacked Ellison’s vote for the financial bailout bill, wants tighter immigration limits, would end ethanol subsidies and wants a less-spendy federal government. White, who has lagged far behind Ellison in fundraising, pushed at the Republican state convention in late May for a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and for making the Bush tax cuts permanent.
