Rebecca Otto served one term in the Minnesota House before being defeated in a rematch contest. She ran a vigorous campaign against incumbent Pat Anderson in 2006, complaining prominently of some admitted mistakes in auditor's reports. She won handily in the general DFL sweep.

 

The state auditor's primary responsibility is oversight of the finances and accounting of local units of government in Minnesota, including pension funds, ensuring solvency and propriety.
