Dallas Charles Anderson was born June 13, 1940 at his family farm near Fertile, MN to Jasper and Grace (Oswald) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Union Lake Lutheran Free Church. He graduated from Fertile High School in 1958. Dallas worked on the family farm as a pre-teen, but his first paying job was sharing the work and wages of one man with a neighbor boy running a bundle team during threshing the summer after eighth grade. He always had some kind of a job after that, including farm work, building grain silos, pumping gas, construction work, landscaping, and factory work. In 1960 he took a job with Trico Manufacturing as a press operator and soon moved up to being a tool maker. In 1963 he was drafted, and he served in the US Army until 1965. In 1966 he and his friend Gene bought Assurance, and together they built it into a successful company. Dallas retired from Assurance in 2006. Dallas met Louise Schnur in 1969, and they were united in marriage fifteen months later in June of 1970. They made their home in New Brighton for over thirty years where they raised their three sons, Matthew, Craig, and Kyle. Dallas was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed deer hunting, bird hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed golf and traveling. He was sentimental about the family farm and left it pristine, with a fresh coat of paint on all of the buildings this summer. Dallas will be remembered as a man of integrity. He was a man of quiet conviction and faith. He was fun-loving, kind, honest, fair, and generous. He was loved.
