Three quick thoughts following the Twins victory over the Brewers
1. GOOD FOR PARMELEE: Chris Parmelee should be hitter better than .209, so it was nice to see him drive one out of the park on Monday. He's been squaring more pitches up lately and said he's felt a lot better at the plate in recent games. I hope he gets a stretch of starts to show what he can do when his swing is right.
2. GO-GO GOMEZ: Carlos Gomez is a fascinating man. Kids love him, as there were Gomez jersey's all over the place. He still chews his fingernails and talks to himself in the field. It looked like getting plunked in the first inning kind of ticked him off because he let Kevin Correia have it with solo home runs in each of his next two at-bats. I asked Correia if he thinks he fired up Gomez in the first. ``Probably,'' Correia said.
3. VANCE WORLEY: I wasn't on call when Vance Worley was demoted to Rochester last week. I swapped texts with him and he doesn't believe he's a Triple-A player - but knows he's made his own bed. He was determined to get back to being the pitcher he can be and threw a five-hit shutout on Monday in Rochester's victory over Lehigh Valley. Heard his fastball was up to 91-92 miles an hour ( is was a couple mph slower with the Twins). He did walk four and needed 119 pitches to finish, but apparently pounded the strike zone late. Let's see if he can back that one up.
