“I’ve got one day where we play a game at [Bloomington] Kennedy and then hop on a bus and drive to play at Jefferson. Luckily, they’re not too far apart,” Rosemount softball coach Tiffany Rose said.

The reason? Postseason section tournaments are less than two weeks away. The boys’ tennis state tournament starts on June 3, softball on June 5. There simply aren’t many makeup dates left.

When St. Anthony revamped its athletic complex a few years back, it was smart enough add a quaint, throwback-style ballpark as its centerpiece. The Huskies consistently field one of the top Class 2A teams in Minnesota, and 2014 is no different. St. Anthony is 9-0 to start the season and ranked No. 2 in Class 2A. Friday, the Huskies play host to a doubleheader, facing Tri-Metro Conference foe St. Croix Lutheran at 4:30 p.m., followed by New Ulm (9-1), another traditional baseball power, at 7 p.m.

Thursday: Woodbury at Cretin-Derham Hall, 4:15 p.m.

Friday: Belle Plaine at Norwood Young America, 5 p.m.
