Thieves ripped copper wire from the rooftop air conditioning unit of a St. Louis Park computer store, destroying the machinery and leaving the store without central air during some of the hottest days of the year.
Thieves stole the wire from Micro Center, 3710 S. Hwy. 100, about three weeks ago, according to a company spokesman.
Although the store shares a building with the Burlington Coat Factory, the unit serving the Burlington side of the building wasn't damaged. Micro Center used rented cooling equipment and fans while awaiting repairs, the spokesman said, and also provided "freeze pops" to employees.
