The big surprise at this weekend's Midwest Emmys, was the fact that Jeanette Trompeter won her second award in a row for best anchor (actually, she tied with KARE's underrated Kim Insley. Trompeter, you may remember, was dumped by 'CCO as part of cost cutting.

CCO had other reasons to be proud, as it was named best overall station and Jason DeRusha, one of the state's busiest bloggers, looked away from his screen long enough to received a couple awards. KARE's Boyd Huppert was again a huge wnner, bringing his total Emmy wins to something like 5,621.

The Midwest Emmys are substantial, but nothing compared to winning a national Emmy, which is exactly what KSTP did a few weeks ago, for their coverage of the bridge collapse.
