Maybe the most egregiously overlooked band eligible for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, the East L.A. rockers just landed a BMI Icon Award and are headed north again one weekend after playing the big Stagecoach Festival, where Coachella is held. They’re always proud to revisit their Mexican borderland musical roots and have extra reason to do so this time, as Mystic Lake’s jackpot booking for a Cinco de Mayo celebration. Since she landed a finalist slot on “America’s Got Talent” in 2011 with the group Poplyfe, the Oakland, Calif.-reared singer/rapper has been popping up in many different places — from the soundtracks to “Suicide Squad” and “Fate of the Furious,” to gossip sites with her former relationship with Cleveland Caviliers point guard Kyrie Irving, to the Grammys’ 2016 best urban contemporary nominations list for her debut album.
