Flames storm back, fall in shootout

Erik Karlsson scored the winner in the sixth round of the shootout as the Senators defeated the Calgary Flames 5-4 in Ottawa after blowing a big lead in regulation Sunday night. Alex Chiasson, Milan Michalek, Mark Borowiecki and Mike Hoffman scored for the Senators, who led 4-0 in the third period before giving up four consecutive goals to allow the Flames to tie it. Kris Russell scored twice for the Flames, while Joe Colborne and Mikael Backlund had one each.

•RANGERS EDGE BLACKHAWKS IN OT: Derick Brassard scored 32 seconds into overtime and Cam Talbot made 29 saves for his fifth shutout of the season in the Rangers' 1-0 victory over the Blackhawks in Chicago. The Rangers moved within a point of the first-place New York Islanders in the Metropolitan Division.

•SHORTIES FUEL BRUINS: Daniel Paille scored two goals, one coming shorthanded, and Brad Marchand added a shorthanded goal to lift the Bruins to a 5-3 victory over the Red Wings in Boston.

•HAT TRICK DOES IT: Elias Lindholm had three goals and two assists, Jeff Skinner scored twice and the host Hurricanes rallied from three goals down to beat the Oilers 7-4.
