Denise Pontrelli, head of educational services for the Spring Lake Park school district, has been tapped to be the next superintendent of Stillwater Area Public Schools. The school board hopes to approve a deal on March 26.
The Stillwater district has 8,225 students and soon could see structural changes to its schools. On May 12, voters will decide whether to reconfigure grade levels to include K to fifth-grade elementary schools, sixth- to eighth-grade middle schools and a ninth- to 12th-grade high school. The proposal is contained in a $97.5 million bond request.
Pontrelli is to succeed Tom Nelson, who is serving as interim superintendent under a one-year contract that ends June 30. Nelson took the role after Corey Lunn's departure.
