Some were married, most were single. Four had children. The youngest, a Marine, was 18, the oldest, a chief warrant officer, was 40. They were killed by a sniper's bullet, roadside bombs, aircraft crashes and vehicle rollovers.
The 27 service members and one civilian who were providing security represent the toll the Iraq war has had in Minnesota.
