Wednesday-Thursday: Aaron Neville fits into two traditions at the Dakota Jazz Club: the American Soul Series and the New Orleans Connection. The sweet-voiced muscle man from the Crescent City first gained attention for the 1966 chart topper "Tell It Like It Is." His pairing with Linda Ronstadt later delivered such pop favorites as "Don't Know Much" and "All My Life." And don't forget all that funky stuff with the Neville Brothers, his family band that has been churning out crowd-thrilling R&B since 1977. The versatile vocalist's most recent album, "Bring It on Home: The Soul Classics," features the likes of "Stand by Me" and "Ain't No Sunshine." His group at the Dakota will include brother Charles Neville on saxophone. (7 p.m. Wed.-Thu. $50-$80. Dakota Jazz Club, 1010 Nicollet Mall, Mpls. 612-332-1010.)
