Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

Ridnour en route, Webster inactive

Posted by: Kent Youngblood under Wolves pre-game Updated: February 5, 2011 - 6:54 PM

Greetings. Youngblood here with the Wolves tonight. Jerry Zgoda will be back with the team starting tomorrow.

OK, to the news at hand:

1. Point guard Luke Ridnour, who has missed the last two games dealing with a family matter, was supposedly en route to Target Center as of about 6:15. Wolves coach Kurt Rambis said Ridnour would start if he makes it here.

2. Wayne Ellington will miss a second straight game while dealing with a family matter of his own.

3. Martell Webster has back spasms and is inactive for the Wolves tonight. That leaves the Wolves relatively light at the shooting guard position after Brewer and Johnson.

4. Kevin Love made some serious media rounds pre-game. It was his first day back in Minnesota since being named to the All Star Game. And, seeing as Jerry was the only member of the Twin Cities media corps actually in Toronto last night, a lot of folks needed to talk to the big fella. I'll have a few more quotes from Love in tomorrow's paper.

5. Michael Beasley (ankle) is going to try to play tonight.

That's about it. Have a good night, and I'll get back to you after the game.
