Boston's Glen Davis, still sidelined after he broke his thumb when he punched a friend, is discovering what separates his species from much of the animal kingdom.
"It took me an hour and a half to get dressed," he said. "I was home alone with my dog and I couldn't get my watch on. I realized how important it is to have your thumb. You need your thumb. I never knew that. I can't hold anything."

Washington signed little Earl Boykins because Javaris Crittenton, Mike James and Randy Foye all are injured. "I've never been in a situation where I've lost three point guards," said Wizards coach Flip Saunders, whose team has started 2-6. "And the one that was hurt the most coming into the season [Gilbert Arenas] is the healthiest of them all."

Denver coach George Karl has a thing about watching great point guards play. He doesn't mind watching Dwyane Wade, either.
"He has a spirit to him," Karl said. "He has a bounce to him. He has an electricity to him that very few players have."
