Preview: The Timberwolves return home after a brief two-game road trip out West licking their wounds. Minnesota lost Monday's game at the previously winless Clippers by three points and is now 1-3. Boston is in town tonight for the only time this season. The Celtics, who defeated Philadelphia Tuesday night, are off to a 5-0 start and show no signs of stopping. Their three home victories this season came by an average of 23.6 points ... Boston is on a five-game winning streak against the Wolves, dating to Feb. 11, 2007.

Players to watch: Ray Allen is creeping up the NBA's career scoring list. The 14-year veteran guard passed John Stockton last Friday with a 20-point effort against Chicago, moving him into 33rd place ... Celtics forward Kevin Garnett (remember him?) is still looking for his groove following offseason knee surgery. He has a career average of 20 points per game, yet ranks 83rd in the league in scoring (13.3) this season, which falls below Wolves players Al Jefferson (16.5) and Jonny Flynn (14.8) ... Rajon Rondo, the 23-year-old guard averaging 11.8 assists per night this season for Boston, received a five-year contract extension earlier this week reportedly worth $55 million.

Injuries: Wolves forward Kevin Love (fractured hand) is out. For Boston, forwards Glen Davis (thumb) and Bill Walker (knee) and guard Tony Allen (ankle) are out. Forward Brian Scalabrine (ankle) is day to day.
