• CHICAGO 92, SAN ANTONIO 85: Derrick Rose, who missed most of the preseason because of an injured ankle, scored 13 points and had seven assists to lead the balanced Bulls to an impressive season-opening victory over the visiting Spurs on Thursday night. Chicago pulled away in the second half despite Tim Duncan's 28 points and 16 rebounds for the Spurs.

• DENVER 97, PORTLAND 94: Carmelo Anthony scored 41 points, including 18 of 19 free throws, to spark the Nuggets past the Trail Blazers.

NOTES

• The NBA will review accusations by former referee Tim Donaghy that were posted online from Donaghy's book, "Blowing the Whistle."
