Mavs an inhospitable host

Preview: Coming off their first victory over San Antonio in 13 tries, the Timberwolves will try to break a five-game losing streak at Dallas' American Airlines Center. The Wolves are on a two-game winning streak and have the third-best record in the NBA's Western Conference. The Mavericks continue to struggle, having lost three in a row and nine of 10. Despite that, the fans have continued to come; the Mavs have a 645-game sellout streak, the longest active streak in the league.

Players to watch: Wolves C Karl-Anthony Towns celebrated his 22nd birthday Wednesday with 26 points and 16 rebounds. G Jeff Teague had 16 points and six assists. Wolves reserves had key performances, with F Nemanja Bjelica scoring 11 (he was a team-best plus-15) and nine for F Shabazz Muhammad.

Numbers: The Mavs' 2-13 record is worst in the league. … The Spurs' 86 points Wednesday are the lowest total given up by the Wolves this season.

Injuries: Wolves C Justin Patton (foot) is out. F/C Gorgui Dieng (sprained right index finger), is questionable. Dallas G Seth Curry (left tibia), F Dorian Finney-Smith (left knee) and F Josh McRoberts (lower extremity) are out. Devin Harris (bruised ribs) is questionable.
