Andrew Wiggins set a career scoring record with 36 points last week in Brooklyn and Zach LaVine predicted it wouldn't be long until his teammate hits the 50-point milestone.

Wiggins nearly proved his teammate right Sunday night by setting another career scoring record with 47 points. The Timberwolves' young star missed a three-point attempt late in the game that would have elevated him to 50 points just five days after LaVine's comments.

The 21-year-old is the youngest in franchise history to score 40-plus points in a game. Wiggins also moved into the Top 5 single-game point leaders in team history tied with Kevin Garnett at No. 4. Wiggins is the 13th Wolves player to score 40-plus point in a game.

The 47 points were the third-most in an NBA game this season behind Russell Westbrook's 51 and Anthony Davis' 50.

Mo Williams (52 points), Corey Brewer (51) and Kevin Love (51) are the only Wolves players to score more than Wiggins.

Here is a quick look back at the Wolves' Top 5 single-game scoring performances:

No. 1 Mo Williams vs. Indiana, Jan. 13, 2015
Williams set a career scoring record with 52 points on 19-of-33 shooting. It was just his third 40-plus point game after 12 years in the league. The big night led the Wolves to a 110-101 victory and snapped a 15-game losing streak. Williams was the first in the NBA to score 50 points that season.

No. 2 Corey Brewer vs. Houston, April 11, 2014
Brewer scored a career-high 51 points to lead the Wolves to a two-point, 112-110 victory, over Houston. He also had six steals to join Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson and Rick Barry as the only other players to score 50-plus points and have six-plus steals in one game.

No. 3 Kevin Love vs. Oklahoma City, March 23, 2012
Love set a franchise record in 20012 with 51 points in a double overtime 149-140 loss to Oklahoma City. He finished the season sixth in league MVP voting and was named to the All-NBA Second Team.

T-No. 4 Kevin Garnett vs. Phoenix, Jan. 4, 2005
Garnett pieced together arguably the best performance in franchise history at that time in 2005 when he scored 47 points and 17 rebounds in the 122-115 loss to the Suns.

T-No. 4 Andrew Wiggins vs. Los Angeles Lakers, Nov. 13, 2016
Wiggins had 25 points by halftime and 12 of his 22 second-half points were from the free-throw line. Wiggins made 17 of his 22 total free throws, 2-of-5 three-pointers, and was 14-of-21 from the field.
