Preview: Struggling to find an identity less than a week after a coaching change, the Timberwolves get no help in traveling to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers. Los Angeles this season has been simply dominant, posting a Western Conference-best 19-3 record thus far. Minnesota, meanwhile, is stuck in an eight-game losing streak for the second time this season.
Players to watch: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is up to his usual ways, averaging 24.9 points per game. He is coming off a 32-point performance Friday night against Sacramento. Fellow guard Derek Fisher has converted 47.9 percent (35 of 73) of his three-point shots. Wolves forward Al Jefferson scored 29 points in a losing effort Friday against San Antonio, one of his season best.
Numbers: Bryant has averaged 23.1 points in 42 career games against the Timberwolves, including a 50-point effort on March 18, 2007. ... The Lakers are 30-6 all-time in Los Angeles against the Timberwolves.
Injuries: Wolves forward Corey Brewer is out for the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but guard Mike Miller returned Friday after missing four games because of a sprained ankle. He is expected to play against the Lakers, who are healthy.
I made this championship belt for the push to the '09 Division Title. Gladden offered to buy it; I wanted a trade for one of his rings. He declined.
