Preview: Golden State star Stephen Curry made his case for league MVP with a 45-point, 10-assist game in Thursday's 116-105 home victory over Portland. The victory ended a two-game losing "streak" — only their fourth of the season — after they had won 11 consecutively before that. And that's not even the 64-15 Warriors' longest winning streak this season: They won 16 straight from Nov. 13 to Dec. 22. … The Warriors are 35-2 at home. … This completes the season series between the teams. The Warriors have won the first three and have won or split the season series each of the past 10 seasons.
Players to watch: Teammates Curry and Klay Thompson are on pace to average 20 points per game each. No backcourt has done that in the NBA since Devin Harris and Vince Carter did so for the 2008-09 New Jersey Nets. Curry is averaging 23.6 points a game, Thompson 21.3. They have combined for more than 480 threes each of the past three seasons, the top three three-point years by teammates in NBA history. They made 488 this season, 484 last season and 482 two seasons ago. The next-closest backcourt is Orlando's Dennis Scott and Nick Anderson, who combined for 435 in the 1995-96 season.
Injuries: Wolves F Kevin Garnett is doubtful, G Ricky Rubio (ankle), C Nikola Pekovic (Achilles), C Gorgui Dieng (concussionlike symptoms), F Anthony Bennett (ankle), F Shabazz Muhammad (hand), G Gary Neal (ankle) are out. The Warriors report no injuries.
